The Abragames Association has published a 149-page report on the Brazilian gaming industry. We share facts from it.

Abragames estimates that at the end of last year there were 1,009 game studios in Brazil, employing a total of 12,441 people. For comparison, in 2018 there were about 400 studios with 5,292 employees in the country.

▪️38% of games developed in 2020-2021 were released on mobile platforms, 20% — on PC, 17% — on consoles, and 9% — on VR/AR headsets.

In 2022, only 1% of the studios participating in the survey had revenue exceeding 30 million Brazilian reais ($6.1 million). 39% of the revenue was below 81 thousand Brazilian reais ($ 16.46 thousand).

▪️31% of studios earned money only in Brazil. 35% of studios had over 70% of their revenue on the foreign market.

▪️55% of studios named the USA as one of their main markets. Next comes Latin America (53%), Canada (49%) and Western Europe (49%). China was included in the list of the main markets for 24% of studios.
