This conclusion was reached by researchers interviewing gamers from the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Brazil, South Korea, and Australia. The data in their report is current for the second quarter of 2024, i.e., from April to June.
MIDiA Research indicated for comparison that the gamers they surveyed spend an average of 7.4 hours per week directly playing games.
The researchers added that at least once a month, 24% of console and PC gamers, along with 48% of in-game goods buyers, watch gaming videos.
“Publishers should start viewing gaming video content as more than just marketing. By mastering this segment, they can gain new revenue streams and accelerate growth,” concluded Rhys Elliott, a MIDiA Research analyst.
