After 11 years of operation, the French Studio Black Flag has ceased to exist. It is best known for the unreleased game Orphan Age—a grim life simulator about orphan survival in a cyberpunk world.

In a farewell letter, the studio shared that a few months ago, it lost communication with the publisher of Orphan Age. Subsequently, Studio Black Flag ran out of funds and was forced to file for bankruptcy.

Studio Black Flag added that due to contract specifics, it couldn't transfer Orphan Age to another publisher to attract additional funding.

The developers are currently contemplating releasing Orphan Age in its current form so fans can finally experience it. However, several legal issues need to be resolved for this to happen. Additionally, Studio Black Flag does not rule out the possibility that the publisher might continue the game's development with another studio, but they cannot guarantee this.

Studio Black Flag opened in 2013. It released several small PC games, including Yrminsul, Night Blade, and Fear Therapy, but they did not achieve significant success.
