The South Korean Fair Trade Commission suspects that KRAFTON may be violating a law that requires developers to disclose the probability of obtaining valuable items from loot boxes in their games. The agency has launched an investigation into the company.

A KRAFTON representative told the Korean portal GameMeca that the commission will review the company’s overall activities, rather than any specific games. KRAFTON intends to cooperate fully with the commission and participate faithfully in the investigation.
It is also reported that the commission has begun a similar investigation into Com2uS, known for the Summoners War game series.
In the past two months, South Korean authorities identified a total of 150 violations related to loot boxes. Specifically, the commission fined Nexon 11.6 billion won (8.9 million dollars) for misleading information about loot boxes in MapleStory.
