Sony has released its financial report for the first quarter ending June 30, 2025. Below are the results for the company's gaming division.

  • Over three months, Sony's gaming division earned 936.5 billion yen ($6.37 billion), an 8% increase year-on-year.
  • The largest revenue came from video games — 540.1 billion yen ($3.67 billion), up 11% year-on-year. Notably, microtransactions and other in-game purchases accounted for 54% of the revenue.
  • Next were network services — 172.6 billion yen ($1.17 billion), a rise of 8.3%. This includes income from PS Network, PS Plus, and advertising.
  • Revenue from hardware sales amounted to 153.2 billion yen ($1.04 billion), a 4.7% increase compared to the first quarter of 2024.
  • The segment's operating profit rose by 127% year-on-year, totaling 148 billion yen ($1 billion). The main growth drivers were increased sales of third-party games and network services revenue.

  • During the quarter, Sony sold 2.5 million PlayStation 5 units. Total console sales reached 80.3 million units.
  • Sales of PS4/PS5 games reached 65.9 million copies (+23%). First-party titles accounted for 10.5% (6.9 million copies).
  • As of June 30, the PS Network service had 123 million monthly active users — 7 million more year-on-year, yet 1 million fewer than the previous quarter.
