The network noticed a Sony patent for a system that can use the blockchain to track the history of in-game objects like skins, objects or characters. The company filed a patent in May 2021, but it has only now appeared in the public domain.

In the document, Sony pointed out that usually in-game objects in other copies of the title from different users do not differ from each other in terms of code. However, they can be applied in different ways. For example, one player could hardly use an object, and another could win an esports tournament with this object. Sony technology could assign unique tokens to objects, and then it would be easier to distinguish them.

According to Sony, its system is capable of working both on PlayStation consoles and on PCs or devices of other “inferior manufacturers”.
