Every June, Sony submits a comprehensive annual report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), detailing its business strategy among other things. As noted by Game File journalist Stephen Totilo, this time the company introduced several significant changes regarding its gaming division's operations.

One of the most noticeable changes is that Sony removed the mention of plans to continue releasing single-player games from its internal studios on PC. Rumors have been circulating since early spring that the company no longer wants to publish them outside of consoles. This might be Sony’s way of confirming those rumors.
Additionally, a new line appeared in the SEC report. Sony wrote that it intends to actively use artificial intelligence in game development. The company hopes that AI will help unlock the creative potential of studios and enhance the gaming experience.
However, Sony does not expect its gaming division to be extremely successful in the current climate. It stated its goal is to ensure sustainable growth for the segment, although a year ago, the wording was different. Back then, it expressed a desire to achieve both sustainable and profitable growth. Now, Sony acknowledged that the memory and hardware market crisis could impact PlayStation revenues. Whether its forecast will come true will be seen in the company's future reports.
