Sony's gaming division regularly invests in projects from third-party developers, claims Christian Svensson, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Sony Interactive Entertainment.

In an interview with The Game Business, Svensson stated that Sony has provided partial or full funding for over 120 games for the PlayStation 5. This is not counting the games that have received investments under the Hero Project, a special support program for developers from China, India, and several other countries.
According to Svensson, these are relatively small amounts. Such investments are beneficial for both sides: developers receive financial assistance, and Sony gains additional content for its consoles.
“If you talk to Hideaki Nishino, head of SIE, who has a very strong product background, he will tell you: ‘PlayStation without content is just a plastic box.’ And a significant portion of this content is created by third-party developers. Therefore, it is crucial that we continue to actively develop this area, act ambitiously, and bring new voices to the platform,” Svensson explained.
Svensson did not provide specific examples of the games Sony has invested in.
