In a conversation with journalists, the studio representatives did not provide details or disclose the number of employees laid off. According to Game Industry Layoffs, a site tracking job losses in the gaming industry, eight people lost their jobs at Heart Machine. The studio's team consists of over 50 employees.
According to Heart Machine representatives, those affected will receive severance pay and be provided with several months of health insurance. Additionally, they will receive a share of the revenue from the games they were developing under the terms of their signed contracts.
The studio emphasized that the layoffs will not impact the development of the action game Hyper Light Breaker, which is preparing for early access release. Other projects, including the side-scroller Possessor(s), will also remain unaffected.
Heart Machine is the third gaming company to announce layoffs this week. Previously, Reflector Entertainment and Kwalee also reduced their staff.
