One of the most successful releases of the year, Black Myth: Wukong, attracted a large audience on Sony's consoles. Gaming expert Simon Carless, citing data from the GameDiscoverCo service, reported that as of today, PlayStation 5 owners have purchased the action RPG 3 million times.

Two-thirds of the players who purchased the PlayStation 5 version of Black Myth: Wukong are from China. Carless notes that only a few games for this console have a higher percentage of Chinese gamers. One of them is Genshin Impact.

Previously, Bloomberg reported that the PlayStation 5 became the best-selling consumer electronics on the Chinese platform Alibaba in the week leading up to the release of Black Myth: Wukong. It is assumed that the console sold out specifically because of the game. This is quite a rare situation for China, considering the popularity of free-to-play mobile and PC games in the country.
Carless did not disclose the current sales figures for Black Myth: Wukong on Steam. According to the VG Insights service, they might total 16 million copies. Gamalytic reports a slightly lower figure—15.5 million copies.
The developers of Black Myth: Wukong themselves mentioned last week that the game sold 10 million copies in total over three days.
