The results of the vote became known the day before. 117 out of more than 200 eligible employees took part in it. 91 participants spoke in favor of forming a trade union called Allied Employees Guild Improving Sega (AEGIS-CWA).
In the event that the US National Labor Relations Board certifies the results of the vote, AEGIS-CWA will become the fifth video game union in the States. Recall that ZeniMax Studios and Raven Software also have their own union, for example.
The peculiarity of AEGIS-CWA is that it represents the first multidisciplinary trade union of a large gaming company. It includes representatives of various departments (marketing, localization, development and quality control), and not just one, as is usually the case.
“Now, thanks to our union, we are able to protect the aspects of our work that we love so much, as well as strengthen benefits, pay and job stability for all employees,” Angel Gomez, translator at Sega of America, said in a press release related to the vote.
