The company Scopely, the creator of the mobile hit MONOPOLY GO!, has made new investments. It has supported a Japanese studio called Studio AuKnow.
A few words about Studio AuKnow to begin with. It is a very young team that entered the market less than a year ago — in October 2025. The studio was founded by Cygames veteran Takuma Akitsu, who for a long time served as the content director for the horse girl game Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Joining him at Studio AuKnow are developers who have previously worked on Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Sonic Unleashed, and Pokémon TCG Pocket.
Studio AuKnow plans to create games based on original IPs for mobile and PC, aiming for cross-media development. This is precisely why they need investments from Scopely.
The total amount Scopely has invested in Studio AuKnow has not been publicly disclosed. However, it is known that it not only provided funds but also promised to help the studio strengthen its technical infrastructure and promote its games worldwide.
As stated by Scopely, the investment in Studio AuKnow reflects its long-term interest in the Japanese market. The company recalled that as part of this strategy, last year it purchased the gaming division of Niantic — although Niantic is based in the USA, it was involved in game development and support, including in Tokyo. Scopely does not rule out the possibility of further investments in promising Japanese teams in the future.
