The Saudi government wants to turn the country into a “world entertainment center” by 2030. It intends to invest $38 billion in the development of the local gaming industry through the Public Investment Fund and its subsidiary Savvy Gaming Group.

Savvy Gaming Group will try to convince foreign gaming companies to open divisions in Saudi Arabia. She will also offer them to jointly develop and publish games or manage an esports business.

Saudi Arabia has not abandoned plans to buy a major game publisher for $ 13 billion. They were first reported in September 2022.

But agreements with foreign companies alone may not be enough. Analyst Daniel Ahmad pointed out that there is a shortage of qualified developers in Saudi Arabia. It will take time to eliminate it. In particular, the authorities will need to support education related to game development.
