Samsung has decided to reduce the commission in its Galaxy Store mobile app store. It announced that starting May 15, 2025, the commission rate for apps, games, and in-app purchases will be 20% instead of the current 30%.

Additionally, Samsung stated that the commission on subscriptions will be even lower at 15%.

The commission reduction will apply to all developers. There will be no income limitations like those in the App Store and Google Play. It's worth noting that in 2021, Apple reduced its store commission from 30% to 15% for teams earning less than a million dollars a year. Google soon followed by announcing a commission reduction in Google Play from 30% to 15% on the first million dollars each calendar year, regardless of the developers' eventual annual income.

Samsung indicated that developers do not need to sign additional agreements or take any other action to obtain the lower commission. All they need to do is wait until May 15.

In recent years, many store owners have made concessions for developers. Besides the aforementioned App Store and Google Play, commission rates have been reduced in:

▫️Amazon Appstore — from 30% to 20% for teams with annual revenue below a million dollars;
▫️Microsoft Store — from 30% to 12% for PC game developers;
▫️Viveport (temporarily) — for most of 2024, HTC charged developers 10% of revenue instead of the usual 30%.
