This milestone was achieved in part thanks to pre-orders, which opened a month ago.
On September 10, Wardogs launched in early access on Steam, and just 12 hours later, Bulkhead Studios reported impressive figures. Meanwhile, the developers apologized to players for technical issues (many, for example, faced long queues of thousands during the launch).
This indeed was one of the reasons for the "mixed" rating—currently only 65% of 23,000 reviews are positive. However, the excitement around Wardogs continues. In the initial hours after launch, the project's peak concurrent users (CCU) exceeded 340,000, and at the time of writing, it holds at around 174,000 CCU.
Wardogs is a tactical military sandbox accommodating up to 100 players. The initial sales indicate one of the largest launches of 2026. It can likely be considered the most successful launch in Team17's portfolio.
Bulkhead is a UK-based studio with a 12-year history. Last year, its management, supported by Hiro Capital and Everplay (Team17), bought it back from the Chinese giant Tencent. This allowed the developers to save the company and retain rights to Wardogs.
