Another box office success for Capcom, where the company announced its policy on "reactivating brands."

On September 4, the horror-action game Onimusha: Way of the Sword was released. This is the first project in the franchise in the last 20 years. The last game in the series—excluding remasters and browser spin-offs—was released in 2006.

Despite such a long break, the project had an excellent start. Initial sales of the game surpassed the one million copies mark. It's important to note that the sales did not reach this figure in one day, as pre-orders for the game had been open since June.

Additionally, Onimusha: Way of the Sword has an outstanding online presence—with a peak of 85,000 players on Steam on the third day of sales. The audience has also warmly received the project, with more than 87% positive reviews.

Capcom considers the decision to release several demos (which were very well received by players) and showcases of the actual build at exhibitions to be successful promotional strategies.

Capcom also announced that, alongside the annual release of major new titles, it plans to pay special attention to reviving game series that haven't seen new installments for a long time. The company did not specify which other brands could be expected for revival. As a reminder, among its "dormant" series are Dino Crisis, Okami, Lost Planet, and Breath of Fire.
