It took Ghost of Tsushima just over four years since its release to sell 13 million copies. The developers from Sucker Punch Studios shared this information with The New York Times.

Details on how sales were distributed between the PC and PlayStation console versions are not specified. According to estimates from the analytics service VG Insights, players have purchased Ghost of Tsushima 1.4 million times on Steam alone. Similar figures are reported by the gamalytic service, which estimates Steam sales of Ghost of Tsushima to be between 502,000 and 1.5 million copies.
Previous sales milestones of Ghost of Tsushima:
- 2.4 million copies — July 19, 2020;
- 5 million copies — November 12, 2020;
- 6.5 million copies — March 25, 2021;
- 9.73 million copies — July 15, 2022.
It is noteworthy that Ghost of Tsushima was released on PlayStation on July 17, 2020. It reached PC relatively recently — on May 16, 2024.
In a State of Play presentation held in the early hours of September 25, 2024, Sucker Punch announced an indirect sequel to the game — Ghost of Yōtei. This sequel takes place on the island of Hokkaido in 1603, 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. The new protagonist will be a girl named Atsu. Ghost of Yōtei is set to release in 2025.
