Such information was shared by the company "M.Video" in a conversation with the newspaper "RBC".
As the company explained, this year consoles are in much higher demand in Russia than at the beginning of 2025. According to their calculations, from January to March 2026, 459,000 devices were purchased in the country for a total of 8.6 billion rubles. Consequently, compared to the previous year, unit sales increased by 22%, and monetary sales by 29%.
Traditionally, PlayStation is the best-selling console among Russians, noted "M.Video". Sony's consoles accounted for 75% of the market in rubles and 26% in units. This is, by the way, also more than a year ago, when their share was 68% and 21% respectively.
"M.Video" added that in the first three months of 2026, the number of PlayStation units sold in Russia increased by 51%, and spending on them grew by 42% over the year. According to the company, this surge is related to Russians preparing for the release of GTA VI and other long-awaited games. Moreover, the recent global price increase for PlayStation might have played a role, although Sony announced it just a few days before the end of March, so it should not have significantly impacted the statistics.
Second place in monetary sales in Russia was claimed this time by the Steam Deck with a 9% share, while the Nintendo Switch secured third place with a 5% share.
In terms of unit sales, following PlayStation, SUP brand consoles (a Game Boy clone) ranked in the top, accounting for 7.8% of all consoles sold. They are followed by Nintendo Switch (3.1%), retro consoles (2.1%), and Xbox (1%).
