Sources from the publication note that Sony plans to create a competitor to the upcoming successor to the Nintendo Switch, as well as the portable version of Xbox being developed by Microsoft.

The new device could be a logical evolution of the ideas laid out in the PlayStation Portal, released in 2023. Bloomberg states that Sony initially intended for the Portal to be a fully autonomous console, similar to Valve’s Steam Deck.

However, a quick release of the console is not expected: if it does come out, insiders say it won't be for several years. Furthermore, the project is in the discussion stage, and Sony may decide not to proceed with its development.

Sony has refrained from commenting on the rumors.
