Polish company group CD PROJEKT reported its results for the first quarter of 2026. The group boasted excellent sales figures for The Witcher 3 and shared some details about the upcoming expansion, Songs of the Past.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- For the period of January to March 2026, CD PROJEKT's net revenue was 191.1 million zloty ($52.6 million). This is a 6% increase from the previous year. However, net profit decreased by 5% to 106.2 million zloty ($29.2 million).
- In terms of regional revenue distribution: 76.4% came from North America, 9.9% from Asia, and 8.9% from Europe, excluding Poland. In Poland itself, the group generated an additional 4.8% of its revenue.
- The Cyberpunk franchise was the largest revenue generator for the quarter with 140.1 million zloty ($38.5 million), though its revenue decreased by 4%.
- Meanwhile, revenue from The Witcher franchise jumped by 36%, reaching 44.7 million zloty ($12.3 million).
- Sales of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt have exceeded 65 million copies. Developers reported 60 million copies in May 2025.
- CD PROJEKT also noted the success of a Kickstarter campaign for a Cyberpunk collectible card game, raising $28.3 million, setting a new record among gaming projects on the platform.
- The development team at CD PROJEKT continues to grow each quarter. The team now consists of 975 people, with 513 working on The Witcher 4 and 163 on Cyberpunk 2.
- The expansion Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is in the advanced stages of development.
- During a conversation with investors, CD PROJEKT confirmed that it originally planned to release Songs of the Past this year. However, they decided to further polish it and delayed the release to 2027. The expansion will be substantial—comparable in size to Blood and Wine.
- Additionally, CD PROJEKT announced that Songs of the Past will serve as a kind of prologue to The Witcher 4, with its storyline linked to the Belleteyn festival.
- CD PROJEKT does not plan to create expansions for The Witcher 4. There simply won't be time, as developers aim to release three full-fledged games in the series over six years.
