Warner Bros. Discovery also recently released its financial report for the first quarter of 2025. Among other things, the company noted that its gaming division earned 48% less than it did a year ago.
The report does not disclose the exact revenue of Warner Bros. Games.
The company explained that the decline in gaming revenue is due to the lack of major releases. Furthermore, Warner Bros. Games continued to be affected by last year's failure of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
The company also noted that in January-March 2025, expenses on gaming content fell by 66%. However, it did not reveal the exact amount.
Previously, Warner Bros. Discovery mentioned that the year 2024 was disappointing for its gaming division, which lost $384 million over the year. To improve the situation, in February 2025, the company closed three studios at once: Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and Warner Bros. San Diego. At that time, the company reiterated its focus on creating games based on key franchises, including Harry Potter and DC.
