The studio FromSoftware may become part of Sony. Sources from Reuters claim that Sony is in talks to purchase the developers' parent company, Kadokawa.

According to the publication, if the negotiations are successful, the agreement between Sony and Kadokawa could be signed within the coming weeks. The potential value of the deal has not been disclosed.
Currently, Sony owns 2% of Kadokawa's shares. It also holds a stake in FromSoftware. As of August 2022, Sony owned 14.09% of the studio's shares. According to Reuters estimates, Kadokawa's market value is currently $2.7 billion.
Representatives of Sony and Kadokawa declined to comment on the information from Reuters' sources.
Kadokawa is a Japanese media conglomerate, and its gaming division includes several other studios besides FromSoftware. Among them are Spike Chunsoft, Gotcha Gotcha Games, and Acquire.
