The Finnish company Remedy Entertainment held an investor presentation where it discussed its financial plans for the coming years and shared new information about its games.
Alan Wake 2: The Lake House
Remedy announced that it is preparing to enter the next strategic phase of its development. Specifically, the company will focus on developing outstanding games within their category and self-publishing them. By 2030, it aims to transform Alan Wake and Control “from excellent games to world-class franchises.” Remedy will generally pay a lot of attention to franchise development.
Here are the goals Remedy has set for itself:
- Double the revenue achieved by the end of 2024 by 2027;
- Achieve an EBITDA margin of 30% by 2027 and maintain this level for at least the following three years.
It should be noted that from January to September 2024, Remedy earned €39 million, which is 65.1% more compared to the same period in 2023.
Regarding games, Remedy revealed that Alan Wake 2 has sold over 1.8 million copies to date. Whether it has broken even remains unspecified. According to the latest financial report, it was reported that the game is still not profitable, although it has covered most of its costs.
Alan Wake Remastered has shown slightly lower sales, with 1.7 million copies sold. In total, 15 million people have played games from the Alan Wake franchise.
Control 2 will be an action RPG with a production budget of €50 million. The company estimates that the game must sell 3-4 million copies to break even. For comparison, the first Control sold 4.5 million copies, and thanks to Game Pass subscriptions, PlayStation Plus, and free distributions on Epic Games Store, a total of 19 million people played it.
The production budget of the PvE shooter FBC: Firebreak is €30 million. Remedy has calculated that the game will break even if it sells 3 million copies.
