In a comment to the portal Android Central, a Meta* representative explained that this decision will help keep the deeply unprofitable XR division, Reality Labs, within the "new budget constraints." He emphasized that the closure of Ready At Dawn does not mean that the corporation has decided to pay less attention to games.
It is reported that Meta* wants to retain as many talented employees of Ready At Dawn as possible. It encourages them to apply for transfers to other studios owned by the corporation.
Ready At Dawn was founded in 2003. Its portfolio includes games such as Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, The Order: 1886, Deformers, and the Echo series. The studio became part of Meta* in 2020. In early 2023, the media reported that Ready At Dawn underwent a major round of layoffs, which resulted in one-third of the staff losing their jobs.
