Raze and Rebuild Studio calls itself a cooperative of developers seeking to "revive the gaming industry from the ashes."

The new team has four founders:

  • Tanya DePass — a former senior writer at Monolith Productions, who worked on a Wonder Woman game;
  • Ian Schreiber — one of the creators of the Global Game Jam development marathon;
  • Tarja Porkka-Kontturi — a game accessibility consultant who has worked with Focus Entertainment, PlayStation, and several other companies;
  • Laura Kate Dale — an activist and game journalist.

The theme of layoffs might become a motif in Raze and Rebuild Studio's debut project. In a comment to Game Developer, Dale mentioned that the studio's founders have some "satirical ideas" inspired by their personal experiences of job hunting after layoffs. However, no decisions have been made yet, as Raze and Rebuild Studio is currently working on several prototypes to ultimately choose the most promising one.

The studio hopes to secure grants or investments in the future to fund their work. They are already in discussions with potential partners but have not disclosed their names.
