Video games are one of the fastest-growing sectors in the entertainment industry, according to a report by the auditing firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). It predicts that by 2028, the gaming market will grow by more than 47% compared to 2023.

- According to PwC estimates, the global video game market volume in 2023 was $227.6 billion, which is 4.6% more than in 2022.
- It is expected to reach $334.16 billion by 2028.
- 76.4% of the amount will be from social/casual gaming. Analysts mainly include mobile games in this segment. Although in-game purchases and subscriptions currently generate the most money in this segment, by 2028, in-game advertising will become the primary source of revenue. PwC expects that in four years, advertising revenue in games will grow to $147.9 billion (+104%), while IAP revenue will equal $106.6 billion (+29%).
- The second largest segment is traditional gaming (21.4%). Esports will account for another 0.9% of revenue.
