Sony has published a financial report for April-June 2023. We tell you how the quarter went for the gaming division of the company.

▪️Its revenue amounted to $5.38 billion. This is 27.7% more than a year earlier. Operating profit fell 5.7% to $343 million.

▪️Sales of games and content for them brought in $2.8 billion. Revenue from console sales totaled $1.3 billion, and revenue from gaming services reached $868 million.

During the quarter, Sony shipped 3.3 million PlayStation 5. This is 900 thousand consoles more than a year ago, but 3 million consoles less than in the previous quarter. For all time, the company has sold 41.7 million PlayStation 5.

During the quarter, 56.5 million copies of games were sold — 9.3 million copies more than in April-June 2022. Of these, 6.6 million copies came from Sony games.

▪The monthly active PlayStation audience grew by 5 million people to 108 million over the year.

At the end of the quarter, Sony revised the forecast for the gaming division for the entire fiscal year. Now the company expects its revenue to be not $27 billion, but $29 billion.
