Details on sales distribution across platforms are not specified. However, the overwhelming majority of copies were clearly sold on Steam.

The release on PlayStation 5, PS VR2, and Xbox Series X|S, which took place only on October 29, gave Phasmophobia a new surge in popularity. According to the developers, in just the last two days, 250,000 people have purchased the game.

Thanks to a new Halloween-themed update, the number of concurrent users on Steam reached nearly 50,000, whereas throughout the year, this figure did not rise above 34,000. Along with the console release, the game introduced a cross-platform mode, which might have also sparked renewed interest in the project.

Phasmophobia was released on PC as an early access title on September 18, 2020. By November of that year, sales had exceeded 2 million copies, turning this indie horror, initially created by the efforts of a single developer, into a genuine hit.
