Starbreeze reported its results for the first half of 2026, announcing a significant revenue decline but maintaining an optimistic outlook.

PAYDAY 3

  • In the first six months of 2026, Starbreeze registered a net loss of 93 million Swedish kronor ($9.86 million), marking a 77.8% increase from the previous year.
  • The company's revenue amounted to 52.1 million Swedish kronor ($5.5 million), a 57% decrease compared to the previous year.
  • The revenue drop was partly due to the company's decision to publish fewer third-party games. These external projects generated no income for Starbreeze in the last half-year and instead resulted in a loss of 1.1 million Swedish kronor ($116,600), a stark contrast to the revenue of 10.1 million Swedish kronor ($1.07 million) at the start of 2025.
  • Moreover, revenue from PAYDAY 3 significantly decreased by 58.8% to 20.9 million Swedish kronor ($2.22 million), attributed to the release of less new content compared to the previous year.
  • Conversely, revenue from PAYDAY 2 rose by 23% to 25.1 million Swedish kronor ($2.66 million).
  • According to Starbreeze, if the financial aspect is set aside, PAYDAY 3 is doing relatively well. Due to major patches, recent reviews on Steam have improved to "mostly positive." Additionally, the number of monthly active users for PAYDAY 3 reached 158,000, although PAYDAY 2 still surpasses this with 174,000 users. The company hopes the popularity of both games will continue to grow.
  • The number of employees at Starbreeze shrank by nearly half over the year. In June 2025, the company had 155 employees, compared to just 89 in June 2026.
