Paradox Interactive is stepping away from mobile. The company has agreed to sell Playrion, a French team specializing in mobile airplane games.

Details about the deal:

  • The new owner of Playrion will be Danish Trophy Games, which marks the largest acquisition in its history;
  • Trophy Games will pay for Playrion in two phases. They have agreed to immediately pay Paradox Interactive €2.25 million and later transfer an additional 9% of Playrion's net revenue over the next three years;
  • Playrion will retain creative independence and continue operating with its current team;
  • The sale is expected to be finalized by September 30.

As explained by Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, the company is currently less interested in mobile games compared to when Playrion was acquired. Their focus is primarily on projects for "larger" platforms—consoles and PCs.

Considering Paradox Interactive's financial performance, this decision makes reasonable sense. In the first half of 2026, mobile accounted for only 2.1% of the company's revenue, while consoles generated 12.25% and PCs 85%.

It is worth noting that Paradox Interactive purchased Playrion in 2020 for an undisclosed amount. At that time, the company stated its intent to gradually establish a release of mobile games based on its franchises.
