Chinese gaming giant NetEase has published a corporate report highlighting the state of affairs in the company. Among other things, a special place in it was given to the R&D conducted in the company.
According to the document, by the end of 2021, the company employed 32 thousand employees from 39 countries. Almost half of them — 15 thousand people — were engaged in research work at NetEase, namely, they were developing:
▫️original game engines;
▫️artificial intelligence;
▫️cloud technologies;
▫️blockchain;
▫️XR.
In total, the company spent 32.9 billion yuan on the development of these areas over three years, which, with certain reservations, amounts to $ 4.9 billion.
