On December 6, Tencent, NetEase, miHoYo and at least 18 other Chinese companies shut down regional online game servers for a day. According to the GameLook portal, they did it as a sign of mourning for former Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

Analyst Daniel Ahmad separately added that it is not the first time that online games are suspended in China due to tragic events. For example, this happened in April 2020. Then the games were turned off to honor the memory of those who died due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
