According to the NPD Group, the last time the revenue of the gaming market in the United States grew in annual terms was back in December 2021.
In total, Americans spent $4.10 billion on video games, hardware and accessories in August. Video game sales totaled $3.59 billion (-6%), hardware sales — $375 million (+14%), and accessory sales — $138 million (-18%).
The best-selling game in August was Madden NFL 23. Also in the top 3 in terms of revenue in dollars were the new Saints Row and Marvel’s Spider-Man.
