The Discord team has announced the release of the Discord Social SDK. With this tool, developers can integrate some chat service features directly into games.
SUPERVIVE with integrated Discord
For example, the Discord Social SDK allows games to add cross-platform chat (both text and voice) and Discord friend lists. It also provides the ability to link in-game chats with channels on game servers in Discord and much more.
The company emphasized that gamers will be able to use the Discord integrated into games even if they do not have an account on the chat service.
It is known that Tencent, 1047 Games, Scopely, Theorycraft Games, Facepunch Studios, Mainframe Industries, Elodie Games, and several other developers are already planning to embed Discord into their games. Specifically, it will be featured in games like Rust, MARVEL Strike Force, Pax Dei, Delta Force, Seekers of Skyveil, and SUPERVIVE.
Currently, the Discord Social SDK is compatible with games on Unreal Engine, Unity, and C++. It currently operates only on Windows 11 or macOS computers, but the Discord team promises to add support for consoles and mobile devices soon.
