Nintendo published its financial report for the fiscal year 2024, which ended on March 31, 2024. We have highlighted the main points from it.

  • The company reported that annual net sales amounted to 1.67 trillion yen (10.8 billion dollars). This is a 4.4% increase compared to the previous year.
  • Nintendo's net profit for the year rose by 13.4% to 490.6 billion yen (3.18 billion dollars).
  • 78.3% of Nintendo's revenue came from outside Japan. The majority of this figure was from North and South America — 44.3%. Europe accounted for 24.3% of the revenue.

  • The number of game copies sold over the year was 199.67 million, a drop of 6.7%. Among the most successful new releases were The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (20.61 million copies), Super Mario Bros. Wonder (13.44 million copies), and Pikmin 4 (3.48 million copies).
  • The report also mentions that by March 31, 2024, Princess Peach: Showtime! sold 1.22 million copies, and the remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong sold 1.12 million copies.
  • The audience for Nintendo Switch games grew to a record 123 million people, up from 116 million last year.
  • Next year, Nintendo expects a decline in all key metrics. They forecast that net sales will decrease by 19.3%, net profit by 38.9%, Nintendo Switch sales by 14% (in units), and game sales by 17.4% (in copies).
