Nintendo held a Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to its next console. Below are the key details.

▫️Sales of the Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on June 5, 2025.

▫️The console is priced at $450.

▫️The Nintendo Switch 2 will feature a 7.9-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of up to 120 FPS. It comes with 256 gigabytes of internal storage.

▫️Nintendo confirmed that Joy-Con controllers will attach to the console using magnets and will have an option to be used as a mouse.

▫️The "C" button on the console will activate the GameChat feature. This is a voice chat with screen-sharing capabilities. A Nintendo Switch Online subscription will be required for this feature (but all players can test it for free until March 31, 2026).

▫️Another new feature of the Nintendo Switch 2 is GameShare. It allows users to launch games from friends' libraries over a local network.

▫️The Nintendo Switch 2 will also be equipped with a camera for video chats, but it will be sold separately.

Nintendo also talked about the games that will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2. There will be quite a few. For example, one of the launch exclusives will be a new installment of Mario Kart called Mario Kart World. The cost of its standard edition will be $80, which sets a record for Nintendo games.

Enhanced versions of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and the last two parts of The Legend of Zelda will also be available on the console. Among third-party developer titles coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 are The Duskbloods (a new release from FromSoftware), Hollow Knight: Silksong, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, Split Fiction, Hogwarts Legacy, Civilization VII, and many other projects.

Additionally, Nintendo will release a special game called Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, which will introduce the console's features. Unlike Astro’s Playroom, which serves a similar purpose on the PlayStation 5, this game will be paid.
