Nintendo has summarized the results of the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025, which lasted from April 1 to June 30, 2024. It was not a very successful period for the Japanese company.

▫️Net sales of Nintendo fell by 46.5% compared to last year. They amounted to ¥246.6 billion ($1.65 billion).

▫️74.2% of Nintendo's revenue was generated outside of Japan, with the largest share (44.8%) coming from North and South America.

▫️The company's net profit decreased by 55.3% to ¥80.9 billion ($543 million).

▫️As explained by Nintendo, its revenues declined due to the weak yen and a decrease in Nintendo Switch sales. Additionally, last year saw the highly successful release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and the Super Mario Bros. movie, which brought significant income to Nintendo.

▫️During the quarter, the company sold 2.1 million Nintendo Switch consoles—46.3% less than a year ago. In total, it has sold 143.42 million Nintendo Switch units to date.

▫️The number of games sold during the quarter was 30.64 million, a decrease of 41.3%.

▫️The re-release of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, which came out on May 23, sold 1.76 million copies, while the re-release of Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, released on June 27, sold 1.19 million copies.
