In Netflix's gaming direction, priorities are shifting once again: the company is now focusing on developing games using generative AI. This was announced by Mike Verdu, the vice president of the newly created GenAI for Games division, who previously led Netflix Games.

After transferring leadership to a new executive, Verdu is preparing for the "next big challenge" and notes that AI has the potential to radically change the approach to game development.

"We have returned to an era of limitless potential and rapid pace of innovation, where each new release opens new horizons," Verdu emphasized.

He also commented on recent structural changes in Netflix Games, calling them a "planned transition" rather than a spontaneous crisis as portrayed by some media.

Let's recall that in October, Netflix closed the Team Blue studio, which was responsible for developing AAA titles. Industry veterans who had worked on Overwatch, the Halo series, and Assassin’s Creed III were recruited for an ambitious project there. The future of the project remains unknown.
