Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters stated at a second-quarter 2024 investor meeting that the service's gaming division is growing rapidly. Netflix already has over one hundred games in its catalog, with an additional 80 in development.
Starting in July, Netflix plans to release at least one game every month. Mostly, these will be various visual novels for the Netflix Stories hub. According to Peters, such games are easier to make.
Peters added that the strategy of releasing games based on popular films and series is working well. Netflix is currently working on at least three such projects. These are games based on "Emily in Paris," "Squid Game," and "Selling Sunset."
According to data from the analytical service AppMagic, users worldwide have downloaded Netflix games from the App Store and Google Play more than 200 million times. The most downloaded game is GTA: San Andreas, with 17 million downloads.
