In 2018, a group of enthusiasts announced Project Arroyo—a fan remake of Fallout 2 on the Fallout 4 engine. In an interview with The Gamer, the project leader Damion Daponte explained that a very large team is currently working on the game. It includes over a hundred developers.

Project Arroyo

According to Daponte, Project Arroyo is more than just a remake. It is a reinterpretation of Fallout 2. His team aims to create the game as it might be if Fallout 2 were developed today. For instance, Project Arroyo will feature an open world with new locations. Additionally, fans plan to voice all characters in the game, not just some, as was the case in the original.

Project Arroyo is planned to be released on Steam. It is expected that the game will only be available to players who have Fallout 2, Fallout 4, and all their expansions in their library. However, Daponte notes that nothing has been decided yet. Before releasing the game in the Valve store, the developers need to contact Bethesda and ensure there are no legal issues.

It is not specified when Project Arroyo will be released.
