The studio has only now announced the attracted investments. According to Crunchbase, the funds were secured back in the summer during a seed funding round.
The largest investment came from the gaming venture fund 1AM Gaming. Alongside them were 1UP Ventures, Overwolf, and several angel investors, including Gaingels fund, streamer and voice actor known as CohhCarnage, and one of the co-founders of Zynga.
Moon Beast Productions plans to use the funds to further develop its debut game and expand its team.
In a press release, the studio revealed only the overall concept of the project. According to their representatives, the title aims to "reimagine established RPG genre standards." The main feature of the gameplay is supporting procedural generation of endless open worlds.
The developers also plan to integrate flexible UGC tools into the game. This will allow users to add their own content, up to creating new game modes. The team compared the flexibility of the new tools to the Warcraft 3 map editor. The studio is confident that this innovative approach will ensure the project has a long life.
The studio promises to share more details about the title at the beginning of 2025.
As a reminder, Moon Beast Productions was founded in 2022 by former Blizzard employees — Erich Schaefer, Peter Hu, and Phil Shenk. Their track record includes work on the first two Diablo games, the Torchlight series, and Hellgate: London.
