On the morning of February 28, Monster Hunter Wilds was released on PC and consoles. According to SteamDB, the game launched on Steam with a huge player base — 987,482 people.
This is one of the best results in Steam's history. Owing to its immense popularity, Monster Hunter Wilds managed to secure the eighth spot in the list of games with the highest number of concurrent users throughout the platform's history. It surpassed hits such as Elden Ring (953,426 players), Hogwarts Legacy (879,308 players), and Baldur’s Gate 3 (875,343 players).

The significant interest in Monster Hunter Wilds was anticipated. It should be noted that back in November 2024, during the open beta test, the game had nearly half a million users on Steam.
However, the rating for Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam is "mixed." At the time of writing, only 40% of the 2,000 reviews were positive. Most users criticize the platform for optimization issues and crashes.
According to Steam Scout, two-thirds of the reviews are written in Simplified Chinese. Following that are reviews in English (18.3%), Traditional Chinese (1.54%), Korean (1.4%), and Spanish (1.3%). The most critical reviews come from Chinese users, with only 9% of the reviews in Simplified Chinese being positive.
Besides Steam, Monster Hunter Wilds has also been released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles, but the online player count on these platforms remains unknown.
Update at 18:00: The online player count for the Steam version of Monster Hunter Wilds has surpassed 1.3 million. This places Capcom's game in sixth place in the ranking of titles with the highest concurrent users on Steam.
