Minit Games is a German startup focused on developing its own gaming platform with HTML5 games. The company recently successfully secured funding in a pre-seed financing round.
As reported by Minit Games, the main investors were the venture fund LVP and Sony—the latter invested through its Sony Innovation Fund. Additionally, the startup received support from several so-called "business angels," including Small Giant Games co-founder Timo Soininen and former Goodgame Studios CTO Stefan Klemm.
Minit Games plans to use the funds to further develop its platform. The company aims to create a service similar to TikTok, but instead of a feed of short videos, users would scroll through small games.
"Players live in algorithmic feeds, yet games are still locked within app stores. We are creating a platform where short games are as easy to find and launch as any other modern media content. We don't just show clips — we immediately provide the opportunity to immerse in a full interactive experience," stated Ole Schaper, one of the founders of Minit Games.
In the near future, Minit Games is preparing to conduct a closed alpha test of the platform. The release date remains undisclosed.
