German developer Mimimi Games ceases its work after 15 years of operation. The studio is primarily known for real—time tactical games – Shadow Tactics and Desperados III.
A large farewell letter from the studio’s co—founders Dominik Abé and Johannes Roth is dedicated to the reasons for the closure. It is addressed to the community of players, the team and the entire gaming industry as a whole.
The letter also reports that future development costs grew faster than potential revenue within the genre chosen by the team. At some point, the risk level reached a critical level for the studio.
In addition, the founders point out that they were unable to find a balance between work and their families. They no longer have the strength to simultaneously ensure a high level of future products, build a corporate culture and be directly responsible for management.
The Mimimi Games team is disbanding, the office is looking for new landlords, and the studio’s hardware and furniture are going under the hammer.
The studio’s latest game, Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew, was released a week and a half ago. The game was very warmly welcomed by both users and the press: 94% of the reviews on Steam are positive, on Metacritic the game has 85 points out of 100.
