The creators of Midjourney announced that they are suspending access to the free trial version of the neural network. Now those who want to use it to generate images will have to pay from $10 to $60 per month, depending on the selected plan.
The head of Midjourney, David Holz, explained that the developers were forced to take this step due to “extreme demand and abuse of trial versions.” He added that perhaps later the company will reopen free access to Midjourney, but it’s hard to say when this will happen.
The network suggests that the creators of Midjourney refused free access partly due to the fact that recently the neural network has been actively used to create political fakes. For example, it was used to take “photos” of the arrest of former US President Donald Trump and the pope in a voluminous down jacket.
