Evgeny Grishakov, the founder of the Garden of Dreams studio, revealed the revenue of the Steam version of Meltopia — an adventure game about searching for the remains of a mammoth. He also clearly explained what percentage of the game's gross revenue would ultimately go to the developers and where the rest of it goes.

Meltopia

Grishakov shared the data in the community of his YouTube channel. According to him, in total, over nearly five months since the release, Meltopia sold 89,500 copies on Steam, which generated $456,900 in gross revenue on the platform. Although the total amount was significant, caution is advised. As the founder of Garden of Dreams clarified, a substantial portion of it will be taken by various mandatory payments.

According to rough estimates, Garden of Dreams will have to allocate:

  • 8.5% for the payment of regional taxes. After this, the game’s balance will remain at $418,100;
  • 9% for refunds (Meltopia had a refund rate of 5.2%, but Grishakov stated that this was an "exceptional case" and he prefers to use the figure of 9% in calculations. — Ed. Note). This will reduce the amount to $376,970;
  • 30% for Steam's commission. As a result, the revenue will decrease to $263,900.

"And the remaining money goes toward your own taxes, employees, advertising, and funding subsequent development," wrote Grishakov.

Meltopia was released in May 2026 on Steam and VK Play, and several weeks ago, the game also arrived on GOG. Grishakov did not disclose the current revenue outside of the Valve store, but it is known that within its debut month, the VK Play version earned only 18,527 rubles, which supposedly allowed it to secure second place on the platform's sales chart at that time. On GOG, the gross revenue of the adventure game in the first four days amounted to $1,422.

Garden of Dreams is currently working on versions of Meltopia for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices, but it is unclear when exactly they will be released.
