The Chinese portal GameLook calculated that the mobile version of Age of Empires has generated 100 million yuan (approximately 13.89 million dollars) for TiMi Studios since its release on October 17.

According to GameLook's estimates, Age of Empires Mobile generates a daily revenue of 4 million yuan (approximately 555,700 dollars), with peak daily revenue reaching 6 million yuan (approximately 833,600 dollars).
The game has rapidly climbed the charts: it currently leads among all free-to-play iOS games in 57 countries and has entered the top 10 in 60 countries.
According to analytics service AppMagic, Age of Empires Mobile has already been downloaded over 5 million times worldwide.
The game was developed by TiMi Studios (a subsidiary of Tencent) in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios. The mobile version differs from the original, shifting the genre from classic RTS to 4X.
Besides Age of Empires, Tencent plans to release two more strategy games for mobile devices based on well-known franchises — adaptations of Civilization (being developed by LightSpeed Studios) and Command & Conquer: Legions (from Level Infinite).
