The Russian authorities are discussing the creation of a new federal project “The Gaming industry of the future”. Among other things, it involves the launch in Russia of a state-controlled developer and publisher called Rosgame.

Kommersant writes about this with reference to materials from the meeting of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation.

According to the newspaper, the authorities call “Rosgame” the Russian version of Electronic Arts and hope that it will help the country’s gaming industry recover. Now the government is considering three scenarios of the company’s work: “stabilization” (expenses by 2030 — $7 billion), “ambitious” (expenses by 2030 — $20 billion) and “leadership” (expenses by 2030 — $50 billion). It is assumed that under the latter scenario, Russian developers will be able to compete with world leaders, and their games will be used to promote the values of Russia.

The government also expects that by 2030 there will be five “game dev cities” in Russia, and the number of studios will grow to 700. By this time, Russian developers will have to make 25 AAA games, 40 AA games and two domestic game consoles.
