In his latest newsletter, journalist Stephen Totilo reported that the lead investor in Wildlight Entertainment was TiMi Studio Group, the main video game division of Tencent. The company is responsible for hits such as Honor of Kings, Call of Duty: Mobile, and Delta Force.
It is likely that Tencent was a key investor in Wildlight at least in the initial stages. The developers themselves previously publicly mentioned being a fully-funded studio. It is possible they had other investors, but their names have not been disclosed.
Last week, it was reported about mass layoffs at Wildlight. How many developers lost their jobs remains unclear. However, recently, it was noted online that the Highguard website is no longer operational, although the game itself is still available in digital stores.
