The Chinese giant Tencent has taken another step towards creating its own metaverse. The company announced to employees the official launch of a division that specializes in XR. This is reported by Reuters, with reference to three people familiar with the issue.
According to the sources of the publication, the division started working at the beginning of the year, but Tencent kept it a secret. It is assumed that now it will employ over 300 people, but the figure may change depending on the performance of the unit.
The direction was headed by Li Shen, Chief Technical Officer of Tencent Games Global.
